Abstract:Aiming at the problem of fault location caused by the uncertainty of wave velocity in the traveling wave fault location method, the paper proposes a new fault location method that avoids wave velocity and transmission line radian. Firstly, the method of using multi-scale wavelet transform to denoise the fault signal is described. Secondly, the time parameters of initial traveling wave arriving at different buses are measured. Furthermore, the influence of wave speed and radian of transmission line is eliminated from the expression of fault distance by using time parameters. In addition, this paper compares the fault location results with and without transformers. The simulation results show that although the error will be larger if there is a transformer, the overall analysis shows that this method has higher accuracy and reliability.
